The Peruvian red uakari monkey (Cacajao calvus ucayalii), also known as the ‘bald uakari’ or ‘uacari’, is threatened by hunting, logging and habitat disturbance in the rainforests of Peru. The Red Uakari Monkey Project (RUMP) aims to investigate and help conserve this striking primate.

The research, led by Mark Bowler (San Diego Zoo Institute for Conservation Research & The University of St. Andrews) has been by the Rufford Foundation, Primate Consevation Incorporated, Conservation International, the Los Angeles Zoo & the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS).
