The Peruvian red uakari monkey (Cacajao calvus ucayalii), also known as the ‘bald uakari’ or ‘uacari’, is threatened by hunting, logging and habitat disturbance in the rainforests of Peru. The Red Uakari Monkey Project (RUMP) aims to investigate and help conserve this striking primate.

The research, led by Mark Bowler (University of Suffolk, UK and San Diego Zoo Institute for Conservation Research) has been funded by the Rufford Foundation, Primate Consevation Incorporated, Conservation International, and the Los Angeles Zoo.
